I am a foreign teacher at a university in Pudong. Some of my students had taken in a stray dog who is very friendly and apparantly housetrained (has been neutered and can also follow commands). They were notified that they were no longer allowed to keep this dog on campus and were preparing to have it adopted. However, due to miscommunication and or animal abuse an unfortunate circumstance occurred. While the dog was patiently waiting for my students to finish class, a dog catcher was dispatched who severely injured the dog. The dog catcher somehow used enough force for his pincer to penetrate the dogs eye socket and through it's mouth. He then dragged this dog by the eye socket into the forest and threw it into a cage to die. Hearing the terrible screams of the dog, my horrified students and I went out to assess the situation. My students paid out of pocket to have the dog taken to a vet and treated for its wounds. It has now been about 2 weeks since that incident and the dog is doing well, although missing an eye. We have negotiated with the school to have this evil dog catcher responsible for all the veterinary bills. The dog is still very friendly and happy to be with people. However, now the concern is that he is less appealing for adoption since he is missing an eye. I am writing this to appeal to dog lovers who would be willing to adopt a great companion and wouldn't be bothered by his appearance.
